To say that the venue was over-sold the show is an understatement. The place was completely rammed and sweaty, even for Arm back on who started off the early night around 8:30 pm.
I've been a huge fan since I first heard 'Come on, Die Young' back around 2001-02 - Mogwai were amazing but my only complaint was something that effected the overall mood and enjoyment of the night. When you over pack a venue for a band that people generally stand still and don't dance to, it's pretty unbearable to stand in the same spot packed like sardines. (Sweaty dancing = fun … Sweaty claustrophobia = tedious) I was with a friend (also a big fan) and we opted to relax on the top balcony hoping to just sit back and enjoy the music. This seamed like a good idea except for three beer filled muscle-men who were around the back bar talking loudly through the whole set. It's kind of shitty to be really into a song and then hear a fist smack down on the counter and a deep voice proclaims "another round - on me!" (Actual memory) We would have been trying to get close to the stage, but realistically, the whole floor space was without the slightest free space or chance to move close.
Otherwise, I'm grateful to have experience Mogwai for my first time. Arm back on deserved this show so much; I hope they gained some new fans.
