entry, by David
This could have been a big dance party but with the long weekend it’s fair to think a lot of people were still away, it was also a freezing cold night with tons of wind and a thick blizzard that came out of no ware by The End, of course which I couldn’t predict when I biked to the show a few hours earlier.
I felt a positive reaction to everything tonight, starting with Minisystem’s beautiful set of soothing synth. Syntonics started off a little shy but quickly found a better Comfort Zone and I’ll give nothing but credit to pulling off a set with a style of confidence that’s kind of harder to attempt in a more calm environment. (or at least the opposite being that the crowds reaction is usually vital to the excitement of this type of set)
I first saw Lioness about three weeks ago at Wrong Bar. (While whatever personal state I was in would obviously have some influence on how I remember the set), I feel they blew me away in terms of such rapid improvement. Vanessa’s vocals were really tight and I think their sound of drums/vocals/bass are really refining into something to look forward to.
